"I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said,"It is more blessed to give than to receive."
Acts 20:35
The Apostle Paul was one whose example was worthy to follow. He sought to follow the Lord in daily living his life to honor and please his Lord in all he did and said. What an example of how Jesus wants us to live our lives.
These last three weeks have been very busy for me. Week before last, I helped out with Vacation Bible School.
Those doing the decorations did an incredible job.
I worked with the Kindergarteners. This is a wall in our room.
The children were so sweet and inquisitive. I really enjoyed them.
The children enjoyed trying to dunk a man in the tank. They got two tries to hit the "X", each time they tried. If they hit the "X" hard enough it would release the seat the man sat on and he would go down into the tank. They really gave it their best throws.
They also enjoyed riding the zip line.
The children heard and memorized God's Word as well.
The theme for their project, this year, was "Children helping Children". The children gave an offering to children in an orphanage in another country. The offering totaled $2000.00 for the week. That was a great amount for children who averaged around a hundred nightly.
Some gracious adults helped in it as well.
Last week, my husband and I helped in our churches Day Junior Camp at a very nice 4-H camp.
The children had a great week.
I taught the first and second graders on Monday and helped with crafts all week.
One of the features was an area motorcyclist who preformed for the children and gave his testimony of how God had worked in his life.
Cake Decorating Post:
I, also, made a 40th Wedding Anniversay Cake for a couple in our church, this same week. The couple knew nothing about this planned celebration in their honor. That is until, I was setting up the cake at the church on Sunday morning. The husband, of this couple, showed up at the church around 7:00 am. I could not believe he was standing there, looking at the cake, when it was to be a surprise to him and his wife. This Sunday was the churches "Home Coming" celebration as well.
He saw the "40" on the cake and he knew the cake was for something different than the churches homecoming, since the church had been in existance for over 100 years. The colors on the cake were his wedding colors and he was going to be married 40 years soon.
He knew the cake was for his anniversary celebration. This was not a small cake. It served a hundred and fifty people or more.
Here is how I made it. I baked two 16 inch layers, two 12 inch layers and two 8 inch layers. A total of nine cake mixes, 27 eggs and 3 cups of oil.
(To see the process of baking a cake go here)
Frosted between each layer. Then frost the outside of each cake and began the process of decorating the cakes.
After I got each cake frosted and decorated with white frosting, I began making the pink and red roses to go on the cake. The frosting I make is buttercream and it never gets hard, so I put the flowers in the freezer and add them to the cake from the freezer one at a time frozen.
I put 8 wooden posts in the 18 inch layer, to support the sencond layer, which is 12 inches in diameter cake. In the 12 inch layer I put 5 wooden posts to support the 8 inch layer, that goes on top of it.
I added a 9 inch plate on top of the 12 inch cake to support the flowers and the divider posts before adding the top layer.
This completes this 40 Anniversary Cake.
I hope the couple liked their cake and enjoyed their special day,
of celebrating their 40 years of marriage.
I am not a professional cake decorator. I just enjoy making cakes to bless others.
I have made wedding cakes for all our children and most of our church families children and several others. My cake decorating started with making and decorating cakes for my children as they grew up. I am thankful I have been able to help others and bless them by making cakes for them.
Blessings,
