Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
We were visiting our daughter in Ohio, a while back, and as we entered her home she had a "Welcome" saying on her wall above the door. It looked so nice and I feel in love with it. I asked her where she got it and she said she got it at the Dollar Tree, for only a dollar. I just could not believe something so nice could only cost a dollar. Since we live six hours away from each other, I didn't think she would mind that I had the same thing on my wall. So I headed for the Dollar Tree to purchase it. There were a varity of saying to choose from. I purchased several and headed home to chose the right one for the right spot in my home. Then I thought it would be nice to put it on a plaque instead of putting it direcytly on the wall, that way I could make the background what ever color I chose. I liked my plaque so well that I wanted to share it with others.
There are so many times when I want to give someone a gift to someone, but don't have anything to give them. I thought these plaques would make the perfect gift. They are encouraging and add warmth to your home. I decided to make several of them in various colors and sayings to have them on hand whenever I needed a gift.
Here is how we made them. We purchased a board 1" x 6" x 6' By cutting the board into 18" lengths we got four plaques from each board.
We purchased several colors of paint and saying to go on them and hangers, to hang them with.
There are a variety of sayings available. You can purchase these at the "Dollar Tree," for a dollar each.
My husband used his the router to shape the edges. Then we sanded the plaques and spray painted them. We put three coats of paint on them and let them dry thoroughly before we put the sayings on them.
Next we removed the saying from the paper and centered it on the board. Press it down firmly, making sure that there are no air bubbles.
Mod Podging the plaque is the next thing to do.
(Buy a can of Mod Podge and a brush and paint it on.)
By doing this you are making sure the saying will not peel up and it will stay permanently in place.
When the plaque dries completely, you can add the hanger. Turn the plaque over and measure the length and divide by two to and find the center of the plaque. Mark the center and put a wall hanger on the back of it, as seen below.
Now your plaque is ready to display or give as a gift.
I also tried putting the saying on pictures to add warmth to them. I just peeled the saying from the paper and applied it to the glass of the picture. I really liked it. In this particular picture, that was taken of our family, by our pastor, in a class room of our church, there was more space above our heads that was nothing but wall. I thought this space was perfect for one of these sayings. Knowing the stories behind each of our lives in this family, I decided that "With God nothing is Impossible" is just the right one. God took several of us that we struggling to have children and gave us children. He gave us a son, to carry on our family name, to the next generation. He has given us a marriage of 48 years that we never dreamed possibly, from the ruins that we were making of it. Each of these family members have their own stories, of the things God has made possible that they thought was impossible. God is loving, merciful, kind, caring, generous and much, much more. He can and does make beauty out of ashes and changes hearts and lives, to those that can bring glory to Him.
This is our family, which God has so richly blessed us with. God is still doing the impossibles in each of our lives. May we will never cease to praise Him for all He has and is still doing in our lives.
