Scripture to Live By:
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. Ephesians 5:22-33
These last two weeks have been very busy. We spent a week in Ohio with our daughter and her family. We went to my husbands sisters 80th birthday celebration. Which was so nice to see so many family members and friends. It was a great birthday celebration. His sister is a lovely person. We are so glad we could honor her.
Then during the week my husband and I saw four doctors. I had ear surgery and my husband had a cat scan. We went to our granddaughter’s, Kids for Truth year end ceremony.
Our granddaughter married a wonderful young man. This post is about making the cake for her wedding this same week. I felt so honored to make their wedding cake. So if you ever decide to make a wedding cake like this, here is what you will need:
12 cake mixes (whatever flavors you desire)
36 eggs
4 cups of oil
Water
For the frosting you will need:
12 cups of Crisco
24 cups of powered sugar
1 2/3 cups of evaporated milk
12 teaspoons of vanilla
6 teaspoons of butter flavoring
Make as directed:
2 6″ layers (I made the 6″ layers marble)
2 9″ layers (I made the 8″ layers vanilla)
2 12″ layers (I made the 12″ layers chocolate)
2 16″ layers (I made the 16″ layers vanilla)
Put equal parts of the batter in each pan.
Bake at 350 until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool for approximately five minutes in pans.
Next, cut off the raised top of the cake to level it.
Put cakes on plates and/or card boards to fit the size of cake. (You will need to put a hole in the center of the cardboard that will be stacked on layers, to keep the cakes from sliding when transported.)
Then spread a layer of frosting on each bottom cake and place the top layer on it. Frost the top and sides of the cakes as shown below.
This seals the cakes until ready to decorate.
My granddaughter and fiance chose a very simple but elegant cake. It was very easy to decorate.
They chose small white dots on the entire cake, with white borders.
Measure support pegs to fit the layer depth and put six of them approximately 3 inch in from the outer edge of the cake all the way around the cake. You will need to have a center peg to go through both layers.
Next stack the bottom layers and put borders.
When you get the cake to the reception hall assemble the cake.
I placed this floral arrangement between the bottom two cakes and the top two cake. See here to make a the floral arrangement.
My son and his daughter were at the hall putting flower arrangements on the table so I let them hold the post while I put the top two layers on the cake. (Yes she is the bride)
Here is the finished product. The bride was pleased.
Now that everything is set at the reception hall, it is time to hurry, so we will make it to the wedding on time.
Awe, we made it!
The bride’s grandfather had the honor of performing the ceremony.
The groom is awaiting the entrance of his bride.
The first two girls are the bride’s sisters.
Here comes the bride on the arm of her father.
All smiles from the happy couple who are now husband and wife.
Off to the reception. Everything was so lovely.
Cutting of the wedding cake. What a beautiful moment.
How we rejoiced with this beautiful couple as they begin their life together.
God has certainly blessed them.
Hope you like their wedding cake.
Blessings,
