Flowers Around My Yard

Scripture to Live By:
For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.  Isaiah 61:11

Gardening Post:
Gardening is a passion with me.  I love planting and watching the beauty of my garden as things grow.  I love to watch nature come alive in the spring and carry on in my gardens until the snow begins to fly.  What beauty! What life!  I marvel in God's handiwork as I observe his masterful artwork and design all around me.

I love caring for my gardens even though it is a lot of work.  It is enjoyable work and oh, so satisfying.

The work is endless but very rewarding when you are able to stand back and see the beauty of God's art work in all the flowers He created.  I am just the caretaker of all His beauty.

Weeping Cherry

Daffodils

A friend gave me a few Cannas several years back.  They have multiplied greatly to the point of giving them away to friends and family members and planting three bushel of them, in our own yard.

They have all been planted and had time to grow, now they are blooming.

Roses

Clematis

Dianthus

Peonies

Peonies, Day Lilies and fox glove in the background.

There are so many furry animals lurking around in our yard and
garden,  some of them look on while you work.

Our yard is the home of a lot of bunnies.  They are not afraid of us.
They don't move very far when we are near.

Raccoon

Geese

Baby Sparrows

Tree Swallows

Assortment of various flowers on the side of our house.
Dianthus, Hostas, Peonies

Lysimachia Punctata

Campanula glomerata superb

Wisteria

Red Hot Pokers

Peonies

Grape Hyacinths and Daffodils

Bleeding Heart

Creeping Phlox

Hardy Hibiscus

Hens and Chicks

Butterfly Bush

Coreopsis

Hydrangea

Hostas in bloom

Cne Flower

Another friend gave me a bag of Gaint Dalhia's, which have multiplied in the last few years so we planted approximatly three large  bags of them through out our yard. In the area that we live in, the climate is to cold for Cannas and Dalhias to survive the winters so each fall they have to be lifted from the ground and stored in a dry place.

Giant Dalhia

Achillea Moonshine

Liatris spicata

Veronica

I didn't plant these, so I do not what to call them. If you know, I would sure appreciate knowing.

Cleome and Cannas

I planted Spaghetti Squash in with my flowers.  They have done quite well.

OOps! My grand children are doing their art work on the walk and adding their own beauty to my yard.

Granddaughter Kiersten and daddy designing her wedding cake.

Just Looking on, relaxing.

Vinca

Lilac Phlox

Black-eyed Susans

I think I need to rest awhile and enjoy the beauty of God's creations.

The beauty overlooking the river.

Black-eyed Susans were given to me by another friend and they grace our yard through out.

Colome

Miniature rose.

Vinca

I truly enjoy a stroll in my flower gardens enjoying the beauty of God's handiwork.

So Blessed!

  2. Where do you live? We've got many of these plants growing bountifully here on the southern coast of VA and my grandmother has most of these too near Edenton, NC. Your weeping Cherry looks so much like my wheeping pussy willow when it's got it's puffs. It's a cute little plant. Your Cannas are doing beautifully (as is your entire yard and the life within!) I couldn't get mine to root and killed it :/ I hate killing plants.

    1. Thank you so much for viewing my post on Flowers Around Our Yard. We live in southern WV. We have had just the right amount of sunshine and rain this year to have the beautiful flowers we have. As I said in my post if the climate is cold in the area you live in Cannas will not survive the winters. You must dig them up and store them until fear of frost is over. If you lived close by I could certainly supply you with some. Hope you can grow them successfully. They are beautiful.
